Class 4: Symmetry

This morning we talked about a new word called, 'symmetry'.  Symmetry is when an image, or an object is the same and equal to all proportions of the image. We stood in front of the mirror at the beginning of class and Ms. Camille asked us questions about what we saw.  Then, during our art class Ms. Camille folded papers in half and wrote on 'x' on one side of the paper. She then instructed us to ONLY paint on the side of the paper with the 'x'.  Once we finished painting one side of the paper, we folded them in half and rubbed the closed paper together.  When we opened the paper we saw that the paint had replicated itself on the other side of our papers; very cool!  Tomorrow, when our papers are dry we'll cut them out and practise decorating them with jewels keeping symmetry in mind.
